As we have already documented, the gospel of Christ and the gospel of the grace of God are essentially the same gospel. They both place emphasis on faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as the only aspect of salvation. There is no works associated with these gospels as the work was completely accomplished by the cross-work of Christ. The only different between these two gospels is not so much in the message of the gospel as it is in the recipient the gospel. 

The gospel of Christ is typically associated with the Jew and Greek who came out of the synagogue after believing in the gospel of God. They were under the promises of Abraham and could associate with the message as it was hid in, and could be proven from, the scriptures. They knew the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and had insights into the prophetic scriptures to believe the Messiah.

The gospel of Grace is typically associated with the 'far hence' Gentile who did not fellowship in the synagogue and did not know about the gospel of God. They were not under the promises of Abraham and could not associate with the message as they knew nothing about it. The truth they would eventually believe in was not hid in the scriptures, but rather, it was a mystery that was hid in God until Paul revealed it. They did not know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and had absolutely no insights into the prophetic scriptures to believe in a Messiah. In short, they were without hope and without God in this world, Eph.2:11-12. Without Paul's message this group of people would be utterly lost and doomed to the lake of fire.

The origin of this message came about when Paul forsook his attempts to convert the Jew. For a third time he proclaimed that the salvation of God was sent unto the Gentiles. From this point on Paul's energy and writings would focus on the message of salvation without the means of Israel.

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, 26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. 29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

The last 7-epistles he wrote would no more reference the Jew first and laws and ordinances associated with them and their program. At this point Paul, though physically bound in chains and in prison, was able to divulge the full extent of the mysteries he had received from the risen Christ,

2 Timothy 2:9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

...as opposed to the period of time when he was a free man, yet he was bound in spirit to speak out the mysteries in their full extent,

Acts 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

2 Corinthians 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

The gospel of grace was now fully revealed and the transition through these gospels was now complete.
