What is the 'ALL THINGS' work together of our good in Rom.8:28?

What is the 'ALL THINGS' work together of our good in Rom.8:28?

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This verse has been abused by prosperity teachers who pull this verse out of its true context and use it falsely and according to their own vain imaginations. There is so much more to this verse than putting people under the hope that the "all things" represents the tomorrow, when all things are supposed to suddenly work out better based on today's problems and challenges. This verse is not about tomorrow, or today, or even in our lifetime. This verse spans the ALL THINGS from when we were called in Christ before the world began, up until the hope of the measure of the glory of Christ we will have in the ages to come. God is working out all things, things in His intricate plan, across this great span of time, together for the good of the Body of Christ when it is in its glorified state in the coming age.

Let's take a closer look at what this verse truly means.

Before Genesis 1:1, there was a wisdom ordained by God unto our glory out in our future. God ordained wisdom before the world unto our glory. You know what that means? God has been working all things together for our good since before the world began.

We have the clear teaching from Jesus Himself that fasting is an essential part of spiritual life

We have the clear teaching from Jesus Himself that fasting is an essential part of spiritual life

The following is a reactional comment from this post concerning fasting, and if it is observed in the grace dispensation.

STATEMENT:

This is part of the problem with Dispensationalism — we have the clear teaching from Jesus Himself that fasting is an essential part of spiritual life (not to mention unambiguous historical records of periodic fasting being normative going back to the very earliest days of Christianity), and then Dispensationalists come up with excuses to disregard it all.

REPLY:

My post does not forbode fasting. It simply informs that it is not an obligation, nor a necessity, nor a means, under grace.

Benching dispensationalism, I do want to bring attention to how you suggest that what Jesus taught applies to us. It is important to know that the Bible tells us clearly that Jesus taught under the law (Gal.4:4; Rom.15:8) and that his earthly ministry and teachings were addressed to Jews only (Matt.10:5-6; Matt.15:24). When Jesus called men to follow him, it was a call for Jews to follow his example and pattern of living. It was an example of living under the kingdom he was about to set up (Matt.4:17). This is not the example we follow today because we do not belong to that earthly kingdom. We belong to the heavenly kingdom (Eph.2:6; 2Tm.4:18), a different part of God’s whole redemption plan (Eph.1:10; Col.1:20).

DM#2: Prayer in our current mystery program

Doctrine of the Mysteries #2

Rom 1:9-10  For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;  (10)  Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

Prayer in our current mystery program

Israel’s suspended prophetic program was physical. God worked with Israel in the physical realm. Jesus’ ministry was confirmed by physical miracles. The physical enemies of Israel will be vanquished. Israel will inherit a physical, earthly, kingdom. On the other hand, the current mystery program of the Body of Christ is spiritual. We do not inherit a physical land. We are not a nation, but a spiritual body. We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Our ultimate vocation will be in the spiritual realm.

As believers today, our walk is by faith, not by the physical senses

As believers today, our walk is by faith, not by the physical senses

Faith is the route by which all spiritual blessings come into our lives. God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Paul writes, “Col 3:1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” We must understand that we can't see them with our physical eyes, we can't hear them with our physical ears, and we can't seek them with our natural senses.

So, how do we seek things that we can't sense with the natural man? How do we see those things and take hold of those things? It’s by the Word of God. We see them, and obtain them, through faith.

In Romans 5:5 Paul says, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” How does the Holy Ghost shed God's love abroad in our hearts? Is it a feeling? Do we just close our eyes and see if we can feel that love being shed abroad in our hearts?

How Prayer Changes in the Primary Dispensations

How Prayer Changes in the Primary Dispensations

How Prayer Changes in the Primary Dispensations

Prayer is a vital part of a believer's faith and connection to God. It is therefore of great value to fully understand what prayer is and how it has changed throughout the primary dispensations. Before I get into the subject of prayer, let me first provide some details regarding the primary dispensations, so that you have context on how it changes the way we pray. Luke writes the following statement,

Luke provides us with a dispensational truth. We see two specific periods of administration in the verse,

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

  • the law and the prophets, which spans from Moses to John the Baptist, and
  • the kingdom, introduced by John the Baptist and ends (temporarily) with Paul, then resumes again at the tribulation and through the millennial reign of Christ.

Prayer in the Dispensation of Grace

One way that each of us can improve the quality of our praying is to model our prayers after the examples of Paul, the apostle to the Gentles.

Paul recorded many Spirit-inspired prayers throughout the thirteen New Testament books he authored. God used Paul in a radical way to reach the Gentiles for Christ and spread the gospel over the whole Roman world in the first century. Praying and learning from his prayers can help us deepen and strengthen our prayer lives by gazing deep into the soul of the passionate apostle who said, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8).

Let your prayers be grounded in the character of God and not in your circumstances

Let your prayers be grounded in the character of God and not in your circumstances

I recently went through a personal challenge which placed focus on much prayer and exercising of faith. I'll leave out the details of this challenge so that I can get right down to the point of this short post.

I was looking back at this episode in my life recently and in hindsight I was able to identify something that I think we all might miss in that moment of crisis. Due to the challenge facing me, my prayers were focused on asking God to solve the crisis; to take away the cause of my suffering, to fix that which was broken. Having gone through this challenge, I have to admit that the strain and the uncertainty in that moment tended to shape my prayers into these types of requests of God, into a plea, or a petition for a resolution or a fix of the problem.

Hardships, Trials, Illness, Persecutions, Tragedies, Why?

Hardships, Trials, Illness, Persecutions, Tragedies, Why?

Today, the rules of the grace dispensation do not focus greatly on the physical and the external. God's focus is on our spirit and He is working on our inner man...

Q-A: Prayer in the Grace Dispensation

Prayer in the Grace Dispensation

The Grace Dispensation brought about MANY changes in lifestyle and patterns. Prayer is one of these attributes that radically changed from how the Gospels represent it.

Let's have a look at prayer in this grace dispensation.
