The Law’s Mediation vs. Grace’s Direct Promise

The Law’s Mediation vs. Grace’s Direct Promise

Gal.3:19-20: “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. [20] Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.”

Paul asks: Why the law? The answer is that it was added because of transgressions. The law was never given to save; it was given to expose sin and hold Israel accountable until Christ, the promised Seed, came. Romans 3:20 confirms, “by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Yet notice how the law was delivered: God authored it, angels arranged it, and Moses stood as mediator. This chain — God → angels → Moses → Israel — shows the law’s distance and conditional nature. Israel had to obey to receive blessing, and failure brought condemnation.

But Paul contrasts this with the promise. A mediator is needed when two parties must agree, but the promise to Abraham was direct. “God is one.” No angels, no Moses, no conditions. God Himself guaranteed it. That is why the promise is superior: it rests entirely on His faithfulness, not man’s obedience.

For us as grace believers, this is profound. The law was majestic but temporary, mediated through angels and Moses. Grace is eternal and direct, secured by Christ alone. We now have direct access to God (Eph.2:18), justification by faith without works (Rom.3:28), and freedom from condemnation (Rom.8:1). Our identity is not probationary servants under law, but sons and heirs in Christ (Gal.3:29).

The law was never a rival to grace; it was a mirror revealing man’s inability to meet God’s holiness. “I had not known sin, but by the law.” (Rom.7:7). It condemned failure so that grace could reveal mercy. Christ fulfilled every demand the law required (Rom.10:4), making us complete in Him (Col.2:10). Grace is not a new system — it is God’s personal invitation into fellowship, replacing the distance of Sinai with the closeness of sonship. The law showed man’s need; grace shows God’s heart.

Grace is not just freedom from law — it is union with God Himself. The same God who thundered at Sinai now whispers peace through Christ. That is the glory of our standing as grace believers.

Grace believers enjoy a status far greater than Israel under law — we stand in Christ, heirs of a promise guaranteed by God alone.

Let No Man Beguile You: A Warning Against Fleshly Spirituality

Let No Man Beguile You: A Warning Against Fleshly Spirituality

“Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head…” — Colossians 2:18

This verse is a warning from Paul to believers who were being influenced by people claiming to be deeply spiritual, but who were actually leading others away from Christ. Paul is not talking about losing salvation—our salvation is secure in Christ. He’s talking about losing reward: the eternal blessings and fruit that come from walking faithfully, growing spiritually, and staying connected to the truth.

Some people were presenting themselves as very humble and holy, even claiming to have special visions or experiences with angels. They looked spiritual, but their hearts were proud. They were puffed up by their own thoughts and feelings, not by the truth of God’s Word. Paul says they were “intruding” into things they hadn’t really seen—pretending to understand spiritual things that God hadn’t revealed to them. And worst of all, they were not “holding the Head”—they were not staying connected to Christ, who is the Head of the Body, the Church.

In simple terms, Paul is saying: don’t let anyone trick you into following a kind of religion that looks deep but is actually empty. Don’t be impressed by people who act humble but are really showing off. Don’t chase after visions, rituals, or spiritual experiences that take your eyes off Christ. These things might feel powerful, but they are fleshly—they come from human pride, not from God.

Revelation(4v6B): The Four Living Creatures around God's Throne

THE BOOK OF
REVELATION

(Rev.4:6B)

The Four Living Creatures around God's Throne

The Four Living Creatures around God's Throne

Rev.4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

I'm not going to even begin to try and understand or make sense of these four living creatures. It is not the primary context of this study. As far as Rev.4 and Ezek.1 goes, all I'll say is that the four Cherubim surrounding God's throne are four angelic beings of the highest order and rank. As part of their privileged functions, they are associated with the worship and praise of God., they are attendants of the Deity, and they are the bearers of God's Throne (Psalms 80:1; 99:1; 1 Samuel 4:4, and elsewhere...).

Revelation(4v6): The Structure of Creation

THE BOOK OF
REVELATION

(Rev.4:6)

The Structure of Creation

What is my purpose for discussing this topic? Well, it is certainly not primary doctrine that we need to know and that can save us. But, it can inspire us and provide us with some sense of the greatness of God and His multi-layered creation. We know from scripture, and from our knowledge of the physical realm, that God is ordered and structured, so we can easily accept that when it comes to the invisible and metaphysical realms, this same order and structure would be maintained. We cannot measure and fully understand the nature of things in the spiritual realm, but the principles that govern that realm can be related to by our understanding of the realm in which we live. If we project our knowledge from this realm into the invisible, knowing that the physical realm is a mere shadow, or reflection, of the invisible realm, then we can only stand in awe and wonder at what we can expect to find when we, as the body of Christ, pass over into that realm at our call to come home (Romans 8:23). Remember, you and I have a heavenly destination. Our eternal purpose, as the body of Christ, is to govern this realm. So, this is why it is motivational and insightful to delve into this topic, even though we cannot even fully fathom the basics of it yet.
