What are Christians to be doing while the world is falling apart?

What are Christians to be doing while the world is falling apart?

Some practical advice
until Christ comes.

There is a dramatic and rapid change occurring in the world. The changes I'm referring to are things like weather catastrophes, geo-physical events, famines, pestilences, political, financial and social degradation, the sudden decline of humans into utter stupidity and irrational choices and behaviours, and the increase in the sciences of A.I., robotics, nanotechnology and genetics being forced upon us . Compare the beginning of 2019 with the events happening at current. It is shocking! And as drastic as it is, it is not going to slow down or subside, but rather it will continue to increase and get more intense and chaotic.

Just to illustrate, have a look at this screen clipping of a news report about the wild fires in California. Put yourself back in mid-2020 when the fires in that day were smashing records based on count, acreage and intensity. Well, have a look at the statistics in mid-2021! Its basically 3-times worst than 2020. This is only one example of multitudes of weather and geo-physical examples I could reach for to prove the point.

It's not just the weather that's going awry. Sadly, its even more so the heart and mind of men. I'm pretty sure that a graph representing the degradation of men's morality would show the same increase as this one on the left about the fires.

So, as members of the Body of Christ, we should evaluate where we are in this mess and what it is that God is expecting of us? —Are we to put ourselves in the line of fire and try to change the unpleasant culture and the climate? Are we to protest the woke movements and fight against the false systems that are being raised up in this day? Well, if you know your Bible, if you know the prophetic plan of God, and if you know the dispensation we are living in today, the answer would be an emphatic NO! No, we are not to try and stop the flow! No, we are not to fight against the systems! We shouldn't, and actually, we cannot, rebel against these wicked institutions. Why? Because this is part of God's redemption plan. Our target is not to change the flow of demoralization, but to change the lives of those individuals in our circle of influence. Our aim is to proclaim the gospel, to be active about our Fathers business, to bring truth to individuals and be a beacon of hope and love to anyone who is willing to receive it. Our focus is on the individual, not on the culture or system in this world today.

How do we go about this? The recipe is so simple!

  • Put your FAITH in God for your wellbeing (Prov.3:5-6)
  • Live in HOPE of His appearing (Titus 2:13)
  • Walk in LOVE, using opportunities to do good (Eph.5:2,15-18; Col.3:14)
  • Share the GOSPEL of Grace (1 Cor.15:1-4)
  • Stand in the TRUTH by knowing the Word (Eph.6:13,17; 1 Cor.15:58; Rom.15:4)
  • Be THANKFUL and REJOICE in the Lord (Col.3:16; 1Thess.5:18; Phil.4:6)

We, as members of the body of Christ, today, are ambassadors with only one purpose as we pass through this world. We are under instruction to reconcile! We have a ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor.5:18-20. The list above is what God expects of us in our day-to-day life. It is not a burden but a natural outflow of life towards others around us. Our lives are to naturally reflect hope and praise from a heart of love towards God. This is more than enough to attract others to enquire about our lifestyle and attitude, and then its here where we can make the most of the opportunity to speak truth and love towards that person. Lost people are seeking hope and peace. In this day and age, people should easily be able to see this evidence in our lives. Be a living testimony of Christ.

May you be filled with God's grace in this day.
