Our Ongoing Transformation through God's Word

Our Ongoing Transformation through God's Word

Salvation is not just about believing the gospel and receiving the forgiveness of sins—it is the beginning of a lifelong transformation. The moment we trust in Christ, our eternal destiny is secured, but God does not stop there. He begins a good work in us, and that work must continue and grow as we yield to His Word and walk in the Spirit.

Paul assures us in Philippians 1:6

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

This good work is not about our outward circumstances; it is about the inner renewal of the believer. God is shaping us, preparing us, increasing us for our vocation in the Body of Christ. We are not passive in this process—we must engage with His Word, studying our doctrine, allowing it to work in us, and choosing daily to walk by its instruction.

Renewed Day by Day

Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:16

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

This renewal does not happen by chance. It happens as we spend time in the Word, letting its truth shape our thinking, strengthen our faith, and establish us in sound doctrine. The more we yield to God’s instruction, the more we are transformed into the image of Christ.

This is the ongoing salvation of our soul—not the salvation of our spirit, which was settled the moment we believed, but the continuous work of renewing our minds and growing in godliness.

The Work of Faith and the Judgment Seat of Christ

Paul understood that salvation is not a one-time event but a continuous transformation. Even after decades of ministry, he said in Philippians 3:12-14

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Our growth in the Word is not just for this present life—it is preparing us for our vocation in the Body of Christ, shaping us for the eternal work that God has for us. When we stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, this work of faith will be manifested. It will reveal how we laboured together with God, how we allowed His Word to work in us and through us.

Yielding to God’s Work in Us

Paul reminds us in Philippians 2:13

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

This is not just about our effort—it is about yielding to God’s work in us through His Word. The renewing of our mind, the transformation into the image of Christ, the preparation for our eternal vocation—all of this is God’s work in us, and He is faithful to perform it.

But we must choose to walk by the instruction of the Word. We must spend time in it, study our doctrine, and allow the Spirit of the Word to lead us. This is the life of faith—walking in agreement with what God has said, letting His truth shape us, and pressing forward in confidence that He will complete His work in us.

Press On in the Work of Faith

Friends, do not grow weary in this responsibility. Your salvation is secure, but your growth must continue. Your outward man may perish, but your inward man is renewed day by day. You are being prepared for something greater, and God’s work in you is leading to an eternal glory.

Spend time in the Word. Let it renew you. Yield to its workings. Walk by its instruction. Let God’s good work in you increase and flourish, knowing that He is faithful to complete it.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Press forward in faith, for God is working in you, and His Word is transforming you for His purpose. This work must grow and continue in us—until the day of Jesus Christ.
