Two wrongs do not make a right!
I don't particularly like to disagree with comments, but it was necessary in this regard as it could lead people down two wrong roads.
The following comment is a reaction to this post:
STATEMENT:
First, forget the King James. New International Version is best now. Nobody knows how to read the Bible. If you are born again, the Holy Spirit often shows you things by giving you understanding. Also, don’t read it front to back. First read the Gospels. Next read James, Peter 1 and 2, and Acts. This will save your eternal life.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your comment. I always appreciate subsequent communication as it generates additional learning material for readers, as well as allows us to learn from each other.
Concerning your comment however, I do want to strongly disagree. The NIV, like all other modern translations is corrupt due to money and copyright pressure. Changed words, missing verses, tainting of the deity of Jesus Christ. Compared to the words in the KJV, these versions are shameful and shocking. See the following post for comparisons, https://thebigpicturelink.blogspot.com/2024/06/the-inspirational-history-of-king-james.html.
I’d like to provide you with some insights that I hope will change your mind in this regard too, Brian.
The list of books you reference in your comment does not contain the doctrine for the Body of Christ today. Don’t get me wrong, all of scripture is the inspired words of God, but not all scripture is addressed to us today. We learn from all scripture concerning the whole redemption plan of God, but the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the Hebrew epistles from Hebrews to Revelation, are addressed to Israel and are the prophetic and law doctrine for them, not us. Furthermore, our salvation is not found in these books! It is found in the epistles of Paul.
The Bible clearly says that Paul is our apostle, Rom.11:13, and that Paul received the commandments of the Lord for the Body of Christ, 1Cor.14:37, which is the grace gospel, (1Cor.15:1-4; Eph.2:8-9) by which we are saved, Rom.1:16, and the mystery doctrine, (Rom.16:25-26; Eph.3:1-9), the instructions of life and godliness for our application and practice today.
Paul’s 9 church epistles, collectively, and in the order they are presented in the Bible, Romans to Thessalonians, make up a curriculum that lays a foundation of salvation in Romans, then provides warning for babes in Christ and spiritual children concerning loose living under grace and falling back under the law in Corinthians and Galatians. From Ephesians to Thessalonians, there is a steady growing in Christ towards knowledge and godliness, apprehending Christ, forsaking the world for the sake of holiness, being strengthened in the face of persecution, and becoming ensamples in faith, love and hope for the Body of Christ and ambassadors in reconciliation to God for those still lost in the world.
For more details on this curriculum, see the lesson series starting with this post.
As grace believers, what is our primary objective?
I trust that your heart will be enlarged to receive this instruction from me. I can testify with confidence that it is life changing when you start to study Paul's epistles in this curriculum form.
God bless.
