Doctrine of the Mysteries #19
Perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment
1Co 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
The Bible presents Paul’s epistles in an order specific to
how we should study it and teach it. This order is important to unifying
believers in the principles of ‘the faith’, Rom 1:5, to promote unity through doctrinal
knowledge.
Paul expected that the teachers of his doctrine taught one faith and that the hearers of his doctrine all would speak the same thing. Paul’s doctrine is a curriculum of spiritual truth, starting with a foundation (in Romans) and then building progressively upon it with deeper revelations of the mystery. Taught correctly, and given time, the foundational principles of the curriculum should iron out all divisions and disputes, so that all hearers would be of one mind and judgement.
Notice that by the time one gets to Ephesians, which is halfway
through the curriculum, it is expected that at this point, grace believers have
a solid unifying knowledge of ‘the faith’.
Eph 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; (5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (6) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
The book of Romans contains the fundamentals of ‘the faith’
for this grace dispensation. It is imperative that believers have a solid understanding
of the content of this epistle, including the accompanying epistles of
Corinthians (which deals with carnal living) and Galatians (which deals with
the law). These four epistles are the milk of the Word that will help a
believer to grow up in Christ and prepare them for the spiritual meat in
Ephesians onwards.
Gaining insights concerning this simple and practical truth is crucial for Bible teachers. Its application is often overlooked, and due to ignorance of this specific curriculum, it is the reasons why many believers today remain babes and children in Christ.
