The Journey: Part 1 - Salvation

Start here at the Introduction: The Journey Begins

The Journey: Part 1 - Salvation

What is this journey I'm referring to? Simply put, it is the period of time BETWEEN salvation and glorification. The journey begins when you get saved, and it ends on that great day when Christ presents the church, His body, glorious, holy, and without blemish, before the Father, (Eph.5:26).

Rom.8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

The details that happen between salvation and glorification is the journey. It is of particular interest to me as this is where my life, and probably many others, got stagnated, and oftentimes it happens right in the heart of the church period where we are supposed to get sound spiritual instruction and grow in Christ.

The first step in this journey is salvation. Instead of outlining all the salvation scriptures and details, I'm going to simply point the reader to this post, which provides comprehensive details on this topic. Please note, salvation is the ONLY key to go forward. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is dependent on this step, so please follow the link if you have doubts about your right standing with God.

Going on however, I do want to touch on one unconventional detail that not many discuss in this regard. Understanding this detail will provide better insights as we continue in subsequent posts.

We are flesh and blood creatures. Though we are made up of spirit, soul, and body, our spirit is dead, dead in our sins, and our soul is at enmity towards God, highly obstinate and rebellious to the core. On the other hand, God is Spirit, and God is ABSOLUTELY holy. To put it bluntly, this makes for a highly incompatible relationship, primarily based upon God's Word, which is Spirit and truth! The Bible says that the natural man cannot understand the things of God, so it makes logical sense that to continue this journey, which is based entirely of spiritual content, the spirit in man must be quickened. Paul writes about this in very clear terms here,

1 Cor.2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The rest of the journey is utterly grounded in the Word of God, and it targets that living spirit within you, to impart knowledge into that spiritual mind. Though your spirit is saved through the gospel, it begins as a babe in Christ. This journey is to bring your spirit to maturity, through attaining a form of doctrine that will bring us to the knowledge and power of Christ within us, the will of God for us, and His purpose for us as the Body of Christ in His great redemption plan.

This will be an epic journey; one that should have been taught us from the very beginning, and one that will humble you so that Christ may be lifted up and exalted.

So, salvation is key!

I look forward to your company in step #2, to be posted soon.

God bless.
