Q-A: Why are there so many denominations?

Q-A: Why are there so many denominations?

1 Tim.1:15-16 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

...of whom I am chief...

Paul committed the unforgivable sin by blaspheming the Holy Spirit. He committed this sin as a Pharisee when he watched Stephen being stoned to death by his approval. This event of killing Stephen triggered the beginning of the end for the Jewish program of law. From this point onwards, God would start the transition to the Gentiles.

Q-A: What does it mean that we are not under law?

Q-A: What does it mean that we are not under law?

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Paul says we are not under law?

In a nutshell, it means to live as Christians today in the liberty of the Spirit without being bogged down by external laws that dictate or hinder our service to God. It does not mean to forego all laws and rebel against the government, our parents or guardians and just do as we please. No! This will not reflect our duty and lifestyle to God and as an example to others. Laws are laws and they are there for a reason. What Paul means by the statement, "we are not under the law...", is that we are not to come under the bondage of 'Man's law', ---that is to fall into the bondage of traditions or rituals or observances and practices. These are things that promote men and really have no part in the design of God for your life and liberty.

Building on the Foundation

Building on the Foundation

Matt.16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

We are probably all familiar with parts of this text above. The part I want to draw attention to is the middle part of verse 18. Jesus mentions that upon this rock, upon this foundation, I will build my church. Notice the future tense of "I will". It was only after Jesus death that the Holy Spirit could be poured out upon the apostles to empower them as witnesses of their Messiah. It is from the events in the first part of Acts that we learn that the church, the Jewish assembly, the little flock (Luke 12:32) of saved Jews, took shape upon the foundation with Peter at the helm.

Q-A: Common Gospel Questions

  • Is John 3:16 the gospel?

No. This verse depicts the Kingdom gospel and not the Grace gospel. The gospel is absent in this verse and therefore one cannot use this verse as a basis to present the gospel to someone. Why not? This verse lacks the information that one needs to know regarding the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what that purpose is for us.

The Power of God unto Salvation

The Power of God unto Salvation

Rom.1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Disregarding all the petty religious squabbles, all the theories and interpretations, all the denominational traditions and observances. Disregarding all the feeble wisdom that we think we have, all the pious egos, self-righteousness, esteem and exaltations that we paste onto our fleeting earthly lives, it really comes down to ONE thing, and one thing ALONE; the fact that we as humanity are utterly lost and utterly powerless to save ourselves, to the point that all we can do, .....literally, the only viable thing left, outside our bag of tried and useless tricks, is acknowledge that only one hope remains, —to believe in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.

Why Mid-ACTS? (Part 3)

Two Programs for Two Realms (Part 3)

There have been so many revelations in my dispensational journey, and one of the first (and biggest) that I learned of was the understanding of TWO programs in God's great plan of redemption. One will not see, let alone understand, this concept of two programs unless one recognizes the divisions in scripture, 2 Tim.2:15. Without the divisions, everything will seem to flow into each other and merge with each other and then you miss the entire revelation all together!

Why Mid-ACTS? (Part 2)

Scripture Falls into Place (Part 2)

My shift from a covenantal position to a dispensational position did not happen by trickery. I had a full and clear comprehension of my new position and stance. For forty years I was exposed and taught in the covenantal position, but when my understanding opened to the dispensational interpretation, it was as if the Word started to bloom and come alive. I had absolutely no hesitancy in receiving the scriptures in this light. It made complete and absolute sense and I found everything become understandable, agreeable and revelatory. It eliminated the confusion and contradictions that I had struggled with for years, it just became so clear and exciting. Where the Word was cumbersome and tedious, it become irresistible and real, something I couldn't put down, something I couldn't wait to delve into daily, something that fed my heart and changed my walk.

Why Mid-ACTS? (Part 1)

The Journey Begins (Part 1)

I've been fortunate to grow up in a Christian home, and throughout my many years as a Christian I've been exposed to several different denominational churches; from Methodist to Full Gospel, then Pentecostal, leading into the Charismatic and eventually Baptist, with some minor exposure to more traditional churches throughout this lengthy journey. Looking back on this time, it's sad to say that only the last four years, from the writing of this article, have I come to learn of dispensationalism and the process of rightly dividing the Word of truth.

All Things Work Together (20201216)

All Things Work Together

“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

From John Newton’s Letters
September 28, 1774

My dear friend,

Certainly, if my ability was equal to my inclination – I would remove your tumor with a word or a touch – I would exempt you instantly and constantly from every inconvenience and pain! But you are in the hands of One who could do all this and more, and who loves you infinitely better than I can do – and yet He is pleased to permit you to suffer. What is the plain lesson? Certainly, that at the present juncture, He, to Whom all events and their consequences are present in one view – sees it better for you to have this tumor than to be without it. There is a cause, a need-be for it.

The promise is express, and literally true – that “all things,” universally and without exception, shall work together for good … The smallest as well as the greatest events have their place and use – like the movement of a watch, where, though some pieces have a greater comparative importance than others – yet the smallest pieces have their place and use, and are so far equally important, that the whole design of the machine would be obstructed for lack of them.

Some workings and turns of Divine Providence have a more visible, sensible, and determining influence upon the whole tenor of our lives, but the more ordinary occurrences of every day are adjusted, timed and suited with equal accuracy – by the hand of the same great Artist who planned and executes the whole. We are sometimes surprised to see how much more depends and turns upon these minor events, than we were aware of. Then we admire His skill, and say, “He does all things well!”

Such thoughts as these, when I am enabled to realize them, in some measure reconcile me to whatever He allots for myself or my friends; and convinces me of the propriety of that verse, which speaks the language of love, as well as authority, “Be still – and know that I am God!” (Psalms 46:10).

Q-A: How to Live by Liberty

Q-A: How to Live by the Liberty*
of Love and Personal Conviction
*(personal actions being directed by love or conviction)

Do you really understand what it means to 'walk in the Spirit'? Is the concept of walking in the Spirit clear and meaningful, or is it vague and elusive? I'd like to write this short article to either confirm or clarify this topic for you. I trust it will bless you.

One can draw from many of Paul's passages to learn about spiritual living, but Romans.14 is one of my favourites, and the chapter that really opened my eyes to what it means to walk in the Spirit. Let's look at some focused verses [with my own added commentary] from this chapter to bring you to a simple, yet clear understanding.

The Meaning of 'Not under Law'
in the Grace Dispensation

It is easy to understand what LAW meant in the Old Testament and in the four Gospels. The law in question was the 'Mosaic Law' and there was no dispute that it was active at this time and it was required to obey it and adhere to it as a way of life. The following (taken from 100's of available scriptures) attest to this fact,

Deuteronomy 6:1 "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, ... 6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, ...

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Matthew 19:16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? 17 So He said to him, why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.

So, when we come to the grace dispensation, does adhering to the law change, and if so, does the law change or do we change in respect to the law or does the law completely fall away? Paul writes that we are not under the laws of Israel and that grace no longer owes allegiance to the law,

The Meaning of Water Baptism
in the Law and Grace Dispensations

Water baptism is a widely disputed subject in churches today and disputes can range from it not being necessary to it being an absolute requirement for salvation. Furthermore, if it is practiced, how must it be done and in what name must it be committed. Churches have been split based on peoples beliefs and so much confusion still exists regarding this subject, simply because many misunderstand the topic and do not rightly divide the truth to bring it into context and clarity.

In this post I'm not going to deep dive into a study on water baptism, but I do want to compare what it means between the law and grace dispensations and bring you to an understanding of what THE BIBLE SAYS about it and not what men's traditions say about it.

Q-A: Should Christians uphold the Sabbath?

Q-A: Should Christians uphold the Sabbath?

This question has been asked in the past, and as a spin-off from the content in this video regarding what 'Law' means in the Grace Dispensation, I thought I'd add it to the Q&A section of this site.

In Exodus 20:8-11, the bible defines the Sabbath law, that it was an absolutely required ordinance to keep. As a matter of fact, it carried the death penalty for anyone who broke this law. In Numbers 15:32-36 we encounter someone picking up sticks on the Sabbath and even this simple or mundane task incurred the fateful sentence.

Two more videos have been added to our video page (and YouTube Channel). These two videos deal with some very sensitive topics in church circles today; Water Baptism and The Law.

The videos do not delve deeply into these two topics, but they investigate what each topic meant in the Law Dispensation and what it means now during today's dispensation of Grace. They are VERY revealing and I encourage you to make some time to listen to them.

Follow me as I follow Christ

Follow me as I follow Christ

All through the gospels, Jesus proclaimed, "Follow me ...". Here are a few examples, (Matt.4:19, Matt.9:9, Matt.16:24, Matt.19:21, Mark 8:34, Mark 10:21, Luke 9:23, Luke 18:22, John 10:27, John 12:26).

As one can deduce from these examples, the phrase wasn't so much an invitation to follow Him where ever He walked, but rather to copy Him in lifestyle, in attitude, in deeds and in manner. To become a disciple and imitate Him and devote ones life to His example.

Not many people are aware however, that Paul also said, "Follow me ...". Let's have a look at an example,

    Identify non-dispensational sites

    How to identify non-dispensational websites

A few days ago I had some time on my hands, so I started browsing the web for some interesting reads. I happened upon a new site I've never seen before, and the page I was reading contained some of the authors views on where we go after death. Do we go to be with the Lord? Do we go to heaven or to a waiting room until judgement? Is our soul or consciousness aware of a new environment? Are we in a soul sleep while in the grave? As I read through the authors convictions on this topic I found that I agreed with him as he laid out the scriptures to qualify his understanding and I was genuinely impressed with the article. It was exciting to find a new site that I could relate to. However, as I browsed more I started to find some concepts that were very different to my convictions. The author expounded on some fundamental doctrines that I simply could not agree with. It was interesting to note how on the first article I read, I was in such agreement, yet as I opened more pages, and got to some basic Christian concepts, there was such a radical difference. In this post I'd like to point out what I find works well to 'test' a site and quickly determine if the views from that site are based on Paul's right dividing of the Word of truth (2 Tim.2:15).

Q-A: Are you waiting for God's will to be revealed?

Q-A: Are you waiting for God's will to be revealed?

Back in the day, I can recall praying and asking God to reveal His will to me; to reveal His will in my job, to show me the way to go in my Christian walk and in my ministry. I don't doubt that God led me and guided me in His own way, and I certainly do not doubt where I am today in my relationship with Him and my family, but I have also learned over time that the options in life and the decisions you face is ultimately your will and in your control. God is not going to tell you what job to choose, or if you must marry or not. He is not going to tell you to buy a house or in what stocks to invest. He is not going to reply to those fleeces you put out or use booming billboards to answer your prayers. This is YOUR life and the decisions you make are your own, and the direction you choose is yours to make. God entrusts you with the power to choose your path, but where your path ends up will be by how much of that power you choose to entrust back to God.

Q-A: Did Paul commit the unforgivable sin?

Q-A: Did Paul commit the unforgivable sin?

Before we can answer this question, lets review the scripture passage that mentions the unforgivable sin. We find it in Matthew's gospel where Jesus is speaking,

Matthew 12:30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. 31 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Q-A: What is the unforgivable sin?

Q-A: What is the unforgivable sin?

In Matt.12:31-32, Jesus says the following,

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

To clarify this statement of Jesus, it is crucial to understand this passage in a dispensational context, where we ensure to rightly divide the Word as we are instructed to do in 2 Tim.2:15.

    Only Israel is 'Born Again'

    Only Israel is 'Born Again'

Today, we are familiar with the term, 'born again'. We hear it often in evangelical messages or when speaking of people who are saved. One might say he is a 'born again' Christian, or on this day and in this circumstance I came to the Lord and was 'born again'. But is this term being used accurately according to biblical context. Are you and I, today, under the dispensation of grace, really 'born again'?

    'CHANGE IN COMMUNICATION'

    Point #2

I'd like to expand on a piece of information Peter mentions in the second scripture in Part #1. The scripture in focus is the following,

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten [born, birthed] us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

Peter mentions the fact that 'us', in reference to the Jews (Israel) have been begotten (or birthed) AGAIN! Born again? Firstly, what exactly does Peter mean by this, and second, does it line up with what the modern church and many Christians say today? So, in other words, what does 'born again' REALLY mean in the true biblical context, and does it REALLY have any significance in this grace dispensation? You might be very surprised at the findings.

Let's dig in and investigate what the scriptures say.

    'CHANGE IN COMMUNICATION'

    Point #1

Even though Peter and John were disciples of Christ and had intimate knowledge of His teachings and life, it's only later, in their epistles that they write about the concepts of grace, the cross, and the redemptive blood, (which was never mentioned in the Gospels or Acts). Where did they get it from? Well, they learned it from the revelations that Paul received from the glorified Christ.
